Get your engines started for our annual Hot Wheels for Shriners Hospital donation drive.
Knox County Public Schools are excited to announce the third annual Hot Wheels donation drive to benefit the children at Shriners Hospital.  From now until November 1, the district is collecting Hot Wheels cars to bring joy to young patients before and after surgeries and during their recovery.
Last year, the community came together to collect an impressive 4,753 cars. This year, with the community’s support, the district is aiming even higher. The goal is to collect 5,000 cars by November 1.
Donations of new Hot Wheels cars can be made at any school within the district. In addition, monetary donations towards the purchase of cars are also welcome and can be made at any school.
The Hot Wheels will be collected by the local Shriners and delivered to Shriners Hospital Lexington.  Money donated will be used to purchase additional cars to be delivered.
To add some friendly competition, the school that collects the most cars will receive a special prize from the district. However, the real reward is the smiles and joy these cars will bring to the children at Shriners Hospital.
Athletic and academic clubs across the district will also be participating in the drive; they will be collecting both cars and monetary donations at various events.
“Every car brings a smile to a child’s face, and we’re proud to support such a wonderful cause,” said Jeremy Ledford, Superintendent of Knox County Public Schools.
“Let’s unite as a community to reach and go beyond our goal and make a difference for these brave kids.”
